Cu siguranta sunteti familiarizati cu diverse efecte care creeaza iluzii optice. De exemplu, daca priviti imaginea de mai jos, vedeti liniile orizontale ca fiind parale sau nu? Ei bine, sunt paralele :)
Most certainly you are aware of various effects that create optical illusions. For example, if you look at the image below, do you the horizontal lines as being parallel or not? Well, they are parallel :)
Cu ceva timp in urma, am avut o postare despre stereograme (imagini 3D ascunse intr-o alta imagine) "Realitate sau iluzie", o alta forma de iluzie optica. Am postat si 9 stereograme cu imagini din Kamasutra ca bonus pentru cei care se antreneaza sa vada aceste imagini speciale denumite stereograme :)
Astazi insa m-am gandit sa va prezint un fenomen care demonstreaza interactiunea dintre auz si vaz in in timpul procesului de vorbire. Este vorba de effectul McGurk, care sugereaza ca perceptia vorbirii este multimodala si ca implica informatii primite pe mai multe canale senzoriale. Effectul McGurk este uneori denumit efectul McGurk-MacDonald si a fost descris pentru prima data intr-o lucrare publicata in 1976.
Iar ca ilustrare, uitati-va la filmuletul de mai jos. Personajul spune de fiecare data "BA, BA, BA" numai ca uneori auzim "FA, FA, FA" deoarece exista o incongruenta intre ceea ce percepem prin auz si prin vaz si atunci, canalul senzorial prin care primim de-a lungul zilei cantitatea cea mai mare de informatie (vazul, la majoritatea oamenilor) preia controlul. Uitati-va la film si o sa fiti uimiti de aceasta iluzie ca percepem lumea din jurul nostru intr-un mod obiectiv :)

And today I decided to present you a phenomenon which demonstrates the interaction between hearing and vision in speech perception. It is the McGurk effect which suggests that speech perception is multimodal, involving information from more than one sensory modality. The McGurk effect is sometimes called the McGurk-MacDonald effect and was first described in a paper published in 1976.
As an illustration, have a look at the short film below. The guy says all the time "BA, BA, BA", but sometimes we may hear "FA, FA, FA" because there is inconsistency between what we perceive through hearing and what we perceive through vision and then, the sensory channel which we utilise predominantly for gathering information (vision, for most of the people) takes charge. Watch the film and you will be amazed by the illusion that we perceive the world around us in an objective way :)
